Brigador Killers: Get APC (Armored Personnel Carrier) Guide
Everything I read online made it sound complicated. You need special missions. You need tons of credits. You need to fight through waves of NOSPOL goons. I was about to give up until I stumbled onto something that felt like cheating.
The elites don’t want you to know this, but the APCs at the Chop Shop are free. You can take them home. I have 458 APCs.
Okay, maybe not 458. But I’ve definitely got enough to fill a small parking lot. And the best part is that it’s basically zero risk once you know what you’re doing.
In this guide, let me walk you through exactly how I did it, because I wish someone had told me this from the start.
Step 1: Find the Dead APC
First things first, you need to load into the Chop Shop level. This is where the magic happens.
A destroyed APC can spawn either on the right side or the left side of the junkyard. It’s not always there, but it shows up pretty consistently. You’re looking for a wrecked NOSPOL APC that’s been completely trashed.
The important part is that these destroyed APCs can have a NOSPOL APC Chassis inside them. That chassis weighs 300 units, which is way too heavy for most vehicles to carry.
The first time I found one, I tried to just drag it into my sedan. Didn’t work. Tried to carry it on foot. Definitely didn’t work. I almost gave up right there.
Step 2: Find the Garbage Truck
This is the crucial step that took me forever to figure out.
You need a garbage truck, which also spawns in the Chop Shop. The garbage truck has a 600-unit weight capacity, which is exactly what you need to haul that 300-unit APC chassis.
The garbage truck isn’t always easy to find. Sometimes it spawns, sometimes it doesn’t. But when it does, grab it immediately. Some players prefer the Party Van or Loader Van for hauling, but the garbage truck has that sweet 600-unit capacity that makes it perfect for this job.
I spent a good hour driving around the Chop Shop looking for one on my first attempt. Now I know exactly where to check. It usually spawns near the edges of the map, sometimes by the bottom exits.
Step 3: The Haul
Once you’ve got your garbage truck, back it up near the destroyed APC.
Here’s where the inventory system gets a bit finicky, and I definitely messed this up the first few times. You need to drag the NOSPOL APC Chassis from the ground into your garbage truck’s cargo slot.
The chassis weighs 300 units, and your garbage truck has 600 units of capacity, so you’ve got plenty of room. Just make sure you’re selecting the right tab in the inventory interface. You want to be looking at the “Ground” tab to grab the chassis, then drag it to your vehicle’s “Mount” (MNT) slot.
It took me a few tries to get the hang of the inventory system, but once you do it once, it becomes second nature.
Now drive that garbage truck back to your hideout. Congratulations, you’ve got an APC chassis.
Step 4: The Garbage Truck Sacrifice
Here’s the brilliant part that I didn’t figure out until way too late.
When you return to your hideout with the chassis, you’ll notice you need more than just the chassis to complete your APC. You need:
- The NOSPOL APC Chassis (you’ve got this)
- A large engine
- Four wheels
So where do you get a large engine and four wheels? From the garbage truck you just drove home.
Tear down the garbage truck. It has four large wheels and a large engine, exactly what you need. It’s poetic, really. The garbage truck carried your APC home, and now it gives its life to complete it.
I remember the first time I did this. I felt like a mad scientist. “I’m sacrificing the garbage truck to build the APC.” It felt wrong at first, but then I was rolling around in my new APC and suddenly it felt very right.
Step 5: Finding Armor Parts
You might notice that your APC is still missing some armor parts. Don’t panic, this is normal.
Search the boxes sitting around the edge of the Chop Shop. They often contain armor plates and other useful components. You can also find armor by breaking down other vehicles or salvaging parts from enemies.
If you’re really stuck, you can shoot enemy APCs until the driver ejects, then salvage the vehicle for parts. Just be careful not to destroy it completely, you want to salvage it, not vaporize it.
Some players also recommend checking out the Merchant when you unlock the Merchant Causeway mission (mission 9 in The Garage). You can buy large crates and vehicle parts there, including armor.
The Threat: Enemy Mech Suits
Okay, I’d be lying if I said this was completely risk-free.
Sometimes you’ll encounter an enemy mech suit in the Chop Shop. These guys are no joke. The NOSPOL forces patrol the area, and they will absolutely ruin your day if you’re not careful.
My strategy is to knock them down with immense firepower.
Bring a good weapon. Something with serious stopping power. The 8mm Wildcat sniper rifle is excellent for disabling APCs and mechs from a distance. You can also use an LMG or a sniper to take them out before they get close.
The key is to engage on your terms. Don’t let them catch you off guard while you’re trying to haul the APC chassis. Clear the area first, then do your salvaging.
One player on the Steam forums mentioned that APCs can almost one-shot you, so using a sniper in aim mode from a distance is the safest approach. I’ve adopted this strategy and it works like a charm.
Why This Method Works
Here’s why this is the best way to get an APC early in the game:
Zero cost. You’re not spending any credits or Souls. Everything you need is sitting right there in the Chop Shop.
Minimal risk. Compared to trying to steal an intact APC from a NOSPOL patrol (which is basically suicide early game), this method is a walk in the park.
Resource efficient. The garbage truck gives you exactly the parts you need to complete the APC. Nothing goes to waste.
Early access. You can do this very early in the game, long before you’d normally have access to an APC through missions or purchases.
What I Wish I’d Known
The inventory system is janky. I can’t stress this enough. Make sure you understand which tab you need to have selected. It took me way too long to figure out that I needed to drag items from the “Ground” tab to the “Mount” slot.
The garbage truck isn’t always there. Sometimes it spawns, sometimes it doesn’t. If you can’t find one, a Loader Van or Party Van can also work for hauling the chassis.
Don’t try to carry the chassis on foot. It weighs 300 units. You will not make it far.
Bring firepower. The Chop Shop isn’t a safe zone. Enemies patrol the area, and they will shoot you while you’re trying to work.
Getting a free APC from the Chop Shop is one of the most satisfying things I’ve done in Brigador Killers. It feels like you’re pulling one over on the system, like you’ve found some secret exploit that the devs didn’t intend.
But it’s not an exploit. It’s just smart resource management. The game gives you all the pieces, you just have to put them together.
Since I figured this out, I’ve been rolling around in my APC, mowing down enemies, and generally feeling like an absolute menace. The APC is slow and the guns are inaccurate, but having that much armor and firepower early in the game completely changes your options.
Just don’t expect it to make you invincible. The APC is a big, slow target, and enemy mechs will still tear you apart if you’re not careful. But as a stepping stone to bigger and better things, it’s absolutely priceless.
