This Grow a Chicken Fighter tier list breaks down exactly which chickens and skills are worth your time right now, and which ones you should stop investing in before you waste any more eggs.

Why This Tier List Is Different
There are over 160 chickens in Grow a Chicken Fighter, and each one brings its own base stats and skill to the table. That’s a lot of choices, and honestly, most of them are filler. If you want to actually climb the Tower, clear Pit Events, and win 3v3 Arena matches, you need to focus on the fighters that can carry you.
Before we jump into the specifics, let’s address the elephant in the room: Reaper x Voodoo and 404 Chick x Cycle of Ash are no longer meta. That combo used to be the go-to for PvP and high-level Tower runs, but the Promotions & Charms update changed the math. You can still use them for fun, but if you’re trying to be competitive, you need to move on.
The Best Chickens in Grow a Chicken Fighter Right Now
S+ Tier
These are the chickens you should be chasing. They’re rare, they’re expensive to build, and they’re absolutely worth it.
Eclipse Hen
The Eclipse Hen isn’t just the best chicken in the game right now — it’s arguably the best chicken the game has ever had. It comes from the Ascension Egg, which has a flat 1% chance to hatch it. That’s brutal odds, but if you pull it, you’ve basically won the lottery.
What makes the Eclipse Hen so dominant? It has the highest base stats of any chicken, for starters. But the real killer is its special skill. When you trigger it, you’re looking at a total damage output of up to 1,040%. That number is not a typo. On top of that, the attack applies constant knockback and damage ticks, which completely shuts down enemy chickens in the Arena. They can’t attack, they can’t defend, they just get juggled until they die.
The Eclipse Hen is also the best carrier for the Black Sun Cataclysm skill, which we’ll get to later. If you manage to fuse that skill onto it, you have the single most broken combo in the game right now. The only downside is that Ascension Eggs are a pain to farm, so getting one is a long-term project.
Ace Rooster
If the Eclipse Hen is the king of base stats, the Ace Rooster is the king of raw attack. It hatches from the Trick Egg at a sub-1% chance, which makes it even rarer than the Eclipse Hen in practice. But if you manage to get one, you’ll understand why people obsess over it.
The Ace Rooster has the second-highest base stats in the game, and its scaling potential with Promotions and Inverted Mutation is absurd. You can push its attack to ridiculous levels. However, its own skill is pretty weak — that’s the trade-off. What you want to do is fuse Black Sun Cataclysm onto it. When you do that, the Ace Rooster becomes a Tower-clearing monster and a nightmare in Arena matches.
The hard part is getting the Trick Egg to drop. It’s an endgame grind, but if you’re serious about climbing, it’s worth the effort.
Angel Chicken
The Angel Chicken is the dark horse of the S+ tier. It comes from the Blessed Egg at a 1% hatch rate, which is slightly easier to farm than the others because you can get a free Blessed Egg from the Admin Abuse event if you’re in the right community.
What makes the Angel Chicken special is that it’s the strongest Cosmic-rarity hen in the game, and it actually out-stats a lot of Secret-rarity chickens. Its base stats are great, but the real reason it lands in S+ is its passive healing ability. In Arena battles, that heal makes it incredibly hard to kill, letting you outlast opponents who rely on burst damage.
The catch is that the Angel Chicken doesn’t come with an S+ skill on its own. To make it truly OP in the Tower and Pit Events, you need to fuse either Black Sun Cataclysm or Reaction Ring onto it. Once you do that, it becomes a top-tier all-rounder.
S Tier
These chickens were once considered top-tier, and they’re still very good for beginners or mid-game players. But the Promotions & Charms update has pushed them down a notch.
Reaper Rooster
The Reaper Rooster used to be the go-to for PvP, especially when paired with the Voodoo skill. It’s still a solid chicken with excellent base stats and great performance in both Tower and Arena. The problem is that the Voodoo skill isn’t as dominant as it used to be, and the Reaper’s own scaling has been slightly outclassed by the S+ tier.
You can still get a lot of value out of the Reaper if you’re early in your progression, but don’t expect it to carry you through the highest levels anymore. It’s a great stepping stone, not the final destination.
404 Chick
The 404 Chick is another former meta pick that has fallen off a bit. It’s still very good for PvP in the central Pit, especially if you use it with the Cycle of Ash skill. But that combo used to be unstoppable, and now it’s just “good.” That’s a big difference.
If you already have a 404 Chick built up, it’s still usable. But if you’re starting fresh, you might want to focus your resources on something with more long-term potential.
Nebula Hen
The Nebula Hen is one of the most underrated chickens in the game right now. It has the same attack and speed as the Reaper and 404, but its HP at max level is higher. That extra survivability makes it a sleeper pick for Tower runs.
The downside is that the Nebula Hen starts off a bit weak. You need to invest in it heavily and pair it with a good skill like Cycle of Ash before it starts to shine. But once you do, it can keep up with the S tier easily.
Kraken Chicken
The Kraken Chicken is a limited-time chicken that only drops during the Admin Abuse event. If you missed it, you’re out of luck until the next one. But if you have it, it’s a strong pick.
What makes the Kraken unique is that it doesn’t need any fusion to be good. Its base stats are high, and its special skill is excellent on its own. You can just level it up and use it as-is, which is a nice change of pace from all the fusion-dependent chickens in the game.
A Tier
These chickens won’t win you any championships, but they’ll fill a gap while you grind for better options.
Golden Goose
The Golden Goose is a tanky chicken that does well in the Tower but struggles in PvP. Its movement speed is slow, which makes it easy to kite in Arena matches. However, it’s decent for early-to-mid game progression if you need something with high HP.
Baron Cluck
Baron Cluck is easy to get and scales quickly, making it a great choice for early-game money farming. Its Za Warudo skill is also really fun — it freezes time and deals massive damage. If you’re just starting out, Baron Cluck can help you farm the Fortune Egg, which in turn gives you a chance at the Golden Goose.
Astro Chick
The Astro Chick has decent all-around stats and can be useful when maxed out and improved with a UFO. It’s particularly good for farming the Void Egg early on because it has a 70% chance to lay one. But its stat ceiling is low, so you’ll eventually outgrow it.
B and C Tier
These chickens aren’t worth your long-term investment, but they serve a purpose.
Cosmo Brat (B) is excellent for laying Scratch Eggs — it has a 100% chance and lays one every 2 minutes 40 seconds. That’s useful for early game, but its fighting ability is trash.
Radiant Fenghuang (B) and Doll Hen (B) are skill donors. Radiant Fenghuang has the Cycle of Ash skill, which you can fuse onto a 404 Chick. Doll Hen has Voodoo, which used to be amazing on Reaper Rooster but is now less impactful. Still, they’re worth picking up and fusing, just don’t level them up.
Founder Rooster (B) is easy to obtain from multiple eggs and has a decent stat ceiling for early game. Its Titan Mode skill is good for the Tower, but it’s not worth investing in high-rarity chickens.
Farmer Rooster (C) and Classic Rooster (C) are essentially tutorial chickens. Use them for the first hour, then move on. Classic Rooster is literally the weakest chicken in the game.
The Best Skills in Grow a Chicken Fighter
Having a strong chicken is only half the battle. The skill you fuse onto it can make or break your build. Here’s how the skills stack up in the current meta.
S+ Tier Skills
Black Sun Cataclysm
This is the best skill in the game right now, no contest. It comes from the Eclipse Hen, but you can fuse it onto other chickens to instantly improve them. When you activate it, the attack deals up to 1,040% damage over its full duration, applies massive knockback and knockup, and creates openings in 3v3 Arena battles. It’s completely broken in Tower and Pit Events.
If you have an Eclipse Hen, use it. If you don’t, try to get one so you can extract the skill and put it on your Ace Rooster or Angel Chicken.
Reaction Ring
Reaction Ring comes from the Catalyst Hen and is a ranged skill with an AoE attack that can deal up to 920% damage. What makes it so good is that it traps the enemy chicken, ensuring every hit lands. It also launches the enemy into the air, so they can’t attack or defend while you’re melting their health bar. The cooldown is short, which means you can spam it frequently.
Stormcall
Stormcall is the special skill of the Storm Colossus. It unleashes five lightning bolts, each dealing massive damage and knocking back enemies. The final bolt does huge burst damage within an 8-unit radius, which is great for clearing groups in Pit Events or the Tower. It’s excellent across all game modes, but especially in Arena.
S Tier Skills
Cycle of Ash
Cycle of Ash comes from the Radiant Fenghuang and is still a solid skill, even if the 404 Chick combo isn’t as dominant anymore. When you activate it, your chicken restores HP over a few seconds and deals burst damage to the enemy. It’s very good on the 404 Chick specifically.
Rebirth
Rebirth comes from the Phoenix Hen. When your chicken dies for the first time, it revives with 50% of its max HP and unleashes a massive AoE attack. It also gains invincibility for a few seconds. This is a great skill for chickens with low survivability.
Voodoo
Voodoo comes from the Doll Hen and used to be the best skill in the game when paired with the Reaper Rooster. It reflects incoming damage back to the enemy and launches a multi-hit burst attack. It’s still decent, but the update nerfed the synergy that made it broken. You can still use it, but don’t expect the same results.
A Tier Skills
Ride of the Fallen (from Valkyrie Hen) recovers HP over time and buffs attack and speed, which is great for chickens that struggle to stay alive. Blood Draw (from Vampire Rooster) adds extra damage to attacks and unleashes a burst that knocks back enemies.
Split Image (from Twin Rooster) summons a clone with identical stats, effectively doubling your damage output for a few seconds. These are all good, but they don’t have the same game-changing impact as the S+ skills.
B Tier Skills
Titan Mode (from Founder Rooster) makes your chicken massive and buffs damage, tankiness, and speed, but the duration is too short and it’s not worth putting on high-rarity chickens.
Za Warudo (from Baron Cluck or Golden Goose) freezes the enemy in place and deals burst damage, which is helpful for beginners but falls off later.
